In 1979 the US Embassy in Iran was attacked by the Iranian Revolution, and several Americans were held hostage. However, six people managed to escape to the official residence of the Canadian ambassador and the CIA was eventually ordered to take them out of the country. With a few options, exfoliation expert Tony Mendez made a bold plan: create a fake Canadian film project that required filming in Iran and the smuggling of Americans as production teams. With the help of a trusted Hollywood acquaintance, Mendez cheated and went to Iran as an associate producer. Time is running out, however, as Iranian security forces shut themselves down to the truth, as both the allegations and the White House seriously question the operation itself.
