This documentary follows the life story of Elle Fitzgerald and examines how her music has turned into a tumultuous era. From the 1934 Talent Competition at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, the film continues Ellas’ extraordinary journey over five decades, drawing on the passions and trials of time in his music and his life.
Aside from the usual biography, the film uses graphics and music to nurture the meaning of the time to bring the context of Ellas’ unique career to life, and features interviews by Smoky Robinson, Jamie Kullum, Tony Bennett, Norma Miller.
