In this highly anticipated documentary, Phil Hrabsky’s biographical account of Haydn’s life is a visual and aural extravaganza, including some spectacular performances by some of the world’s most famous musicians.

Joseph Haydn (1732-1809) was one of the greatest music innovators. Mozart and Beethoven resolutely regarded him as an inspiration, and today he too often overshadows the benefit of his younger contemporaries.

As Andrew Schiff recently noted:
The world must appreciate it much more: it is still the most underrated of all really good composers.

Talking to some of Haydn’s most outstanding figures, this film rebalances and illuminates the master and his work. Phil Grabsky hopes Haydn will reach a wider audience who will be amazed, entertained and fascinated by Haydn’s humor, humanity and insatiable creativity.

Haydn’s life stretched from the end of Baroque to Napoleon’s attack on Vienna and was survived by his younger friend Mozart. He was one of the most productive composers and created over 100 symphonies, 64 quartets, 16 existing operas, 51 piano sonatas and oratorios The Creation and The Seasons.

His seemingly light, calm temperament gripped troublesand the overflow of life with casual humor and irony. Although he was blessed with an encouraging philanthropist, who has been running his own orchestra and opera company in the Esterhaz estate for about 30 years, he has succumbed to the familiar experience of aristocratic households and the films of the artistic world. These years have proven to be extremely productive and have inspired Haydn to write many pieces to please his clients and distinguished guests with witty theatrical evenings, jokes and occasional jokes.

Phil Grabsky adheres to the same format as he presented the composer’s biography and music chronologically. Through intimate and insightful interviews with experts and detailed excerpts from personal memories, Haydn’s audience gains a great understanding not only of Haydn’s music but also of his appreciation for the artist himself.
