Patch Testing

Dr.Shahid`s Consultant Allergy and Immunology Patch Testing Guide

It is highly recommended that if you start with new cosmetic product you should always do patch test before incorporating new cosmetic product in your routine. I have explained how to do patch test on yourself based on the type of product.
Leave-On Products (Serums, Moisturizers, Oils, Direct Acids, Antioxidants, Makeup, Peptides, Retinoids, Vitamin C, Sun care, etc.):
Here is how to patch test:
1.Apply a small amount of the product on to clean area such as an invisible portion of your leg or upper forearm, such as behind your knee or inside your elbow.(about 2inchx2inches area)
2. Keep the area dry
3. After 24 hours rinse the area.
4.If that application
produces no reaction within 24 hours (redness, burning, itching, blistering or irritation is observed at any time throughout the test.
5.Product is probably safe for you to use

to products and does not guarantee similar results when applied to other areas of the body (including the face) or after continuous use. It does not account for underlying conditions and should not be used for the diagnosis of hypersensitivity or allergic contact dermatitis. If you are concerned about starting a new product, please consult a dermatologist prior to use.
